Hey, hello mate!
If you've landed here, it's most likely you play music or you might even have your band up and running and looking for somewhere to put your gig on, or a place to crank up your amps!
At Kohanga studios, we provide affordable, long term and secure rehearsal rooms just for you and your band, or share it with mates and split the cost. Here, you can have your own equipment (or provided if you prefer) safe, set up and ready to go with 24/7 access.
On site is also a professionally equiped events venue full of activity with gigs, workshops and art exhibitions running regularly. So wether you're a promotor, or an up and coming band or solo artist come and talk to us, we can help you with everything from production to technical support and everything in between.
the roadieI'm Ruben, I'm a drummer, I'm a record collector and I'm a "Roadie".
I was born in a tiny town in northern Spain, product of a farmer and a butcher. I moved to Valencia to study fine arts when one of the bands I was playing with took off. I dropped out of University coz that's what you do when you're living the dream. After a few tours and published albums I took casual jobs as a stage hand before I landed at Call & Play, the backline reference company in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the biggest in Europe where I established my roadie career for the next 10 years. |
I went on to work on massive festivals, like Sonar Barcelona, Primavera Sound or Rototom Sunsplash and tours with international artists - I definitely got some good "behind the scene" stories to keep you entertained - During this time I dealt with operations, management and technical support enhancing the capability to solve problems on the fly. A combination of musical knowledge and technical training allows me to understand the needs of the professional musician and the production team.
In 2013 I landed in Aotearoa in search for a change while adjusting to a new life and a new language. Got involved in several events and keep drumming and dj'ing during these years.... The active life behind a show, its preps and all its gadgets is definitely what I most enjoy.
Now I want to share these experiences, knowledge and skills acquired through the years to strengthen our local music community. To push up the vibrant Wellington music scene and its talent with facilities for your daily practices. Regular workshops on how to adjust, repair and maintain your instrument that allow musicians to fine tune their career. An events venue and a management office to give you the space and support for your band to show off.
I'm passionate about what I do and here I am continuing to improve the “ what ”, the “ who ”, the “ how ”, the “ where ”, the “ when ”, and the “ for whom ”.
You too can became a member of our vibrant music community and get access to discounts, tickets and metorship programmes.
